Quick Details
Upper Platte River Kayaking and Canoeing
Looking for a little more action? The Upper Platte River flows much faster than the Lower Platte River and offers exciting river runs for the experienced canoer or kayaker. While you won’t experience white water or rapids, this section features tight turns, underwater obstacles, low hanging branches, and fast currents that make for a lively trip.
Keep your eyes open for local wildlife like bald eagles, deer, otters, loons, and more. There are limited places to stop along the way, but it doesn’t get much more scenic than this!
Your Platte River canoeing or kayaking experience ends about one mile from The Trading Post on Deadstream Road. The total trip time is about three and a half hours, so you’ve surely earned a delicious lunch once you’re back on land!
